New Roadmap Unveiled by Polkadot DOT: All the Information You Need
A new roadmap from the Polkadot blockchain's creators prepares the way for a number of significant adjustments to the platform's functioning in the upcoming months.
The company that created the blockchain, Parity Technologies, has created a number of solutions to improve Polkadot's operations, according to Rob Habermeier, a co-founder of Polkadot.
"These span a variety of categories, including staking, parachain creation, cross-chain communication, parachain governance, common-good parachains, and linking to other ecosystems. We've been working hard to produce the code for these enhancements and upgrades, and we hope the Polkadot community will welcome them," Habermeier added.
The co-founder of the blockchain argues that the anticipated changes will allow Polkadot to increase or obtain the following capabilities:
Next-Generation Scheduling / Parathreads
Pay-as-you-go parachains called parathreads make it possible to launch a blockchain with the same simplicity as a smart contract. Parathreads should be available for use between the first and second quarter of 2023, according to Parity Technologies.
XCMv3
Up until the end of 2022, Polkadot's cross-consensus messaging (XCM), an open-source language created for cross-chain communication that may be used inside or outside the blockchain ecosystem, will see its third major release.
SECTION: Weights V2
Weights will be modified to their second iteration, which will introduce the concept of multi-dimensional weights. Weights is the mechanism by which Substrate transactions and activities are measured against block capacity. The new version will be available by the middle of October 2022, according to Habermeier, who claims that they "measure not only execution time but also the quantity of state accessed by a particular operation."
Governance Reform
It is anticipated that an agile upgrade to Polkadot's governance structure will eliminate the council and technical committees, introduce the Polkadot Fellowship, and subject all Polkadot decisions to community vote. Following a vote by the community and endorsement by token holders, the new system will be implemented at the start of the fourth quarter of 2022.
Groupings parachain
The Common Good Parachains team has been putting Polkadot Collectives, a new parachain, through its final testing in preparation for its introduction in October 2022.
Bridge Center
The Polkadot-to-Kusama bridge is being developed by Parity's bridges team, and it will have a hub that will act as a message-routing service for each network. It won't take off until the end of 2022.
Pools of Nomination and Quick Unstake
Nomination pools, which allow users to construct "pools" of stake without obtaining authorization, are a part of Polkadot's plans to create a world full of proof-of-stake blockchains in the future.
"Nomination pools will be added to Polkadot as of the 0.9.28 release, although no pools can yet be formed using the default specifications. The initial configurations, such as how many pools can be created, how many members can join, etc., can be set after this runtime is implemented, according to Habermeier.
Dashboard for Staking
The developers of Polkadot claim that in addition to improving the staking protocol's capabilities, they also understand the necessity to increase end users' and average people's access to staking. The co-founder of the blockchain added that as part of these efforts, the Staking Dashboard would soon leave its open beta phase even though it is already functional.
Conflicts Slashing
The conflicts slashing feature of Polkadot's parachains protocol will be available till the end of this year, which became live last December. In order to prevent spam, he stated, validators who "submit invalid parachain blocks would be slashed for their full stake, while validators which produce defective disputes will be slashed for a little amount."
