Launch of Star Atlas on the Epic Games Store
On September 29, 2022, a live-streamed ceremony marked the official launch of the eagerly awaited Solana NFT-based game Star Atlas on the Epic Games Store. Despite only being a demo right now, Star Atlas gave NFT owners the chance to test-drive the ships they purchased.
Owners may tour a non-NFT ship as part of the demo, but it was also kind enough to give access keys to a few non-owners. In this NFT project, which is set in the year 2620, users can mine resources while traveling around an open-world environment in vehicles like spacecraft.
Despite the fact that NFT owners had a taste of this exploration strategy game, it might take the Star Atlas developers a few years to finish the entire project and give players access to all of the features.
Demo of the Star Atlas Showroom
Star Atlas may not be fully operational for some time, but NFT owners will soon get another look at the game. Later this year, there will be another Showroom demo with additional features like NFT holders piloting their ships, multiplayer functionality, and player interaction.
The demo, though, wasn't the event's sole standout feature. Developer toolkits were also made available along with the Star Atlas demo's release on the Epic Games Store. These tools will help programmers create their own cryptocurrency games on the Solana network using Unreal Engine 5.
The main game of Star Atlas, Fortnite, also makes use of the 3D creation tool. The Foundation Software Development Kit, an open-source program, will be used by developers to quickly connect their games onto Solana's network (F-KIT).
Solana is a leading player in the NFT market in addition to updating its network to handle more than 60,000 transactions per second.
